Let the same mind be in you
that was in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 2

Classroom atmosphere has an effect on learning.  A classroom should be a place where people respect and care for others, where talking occurs at the right times and the right levels, and where students and teachers are attentive to one another.  In simple terms, the classroom is a place where students stay focused on completing their school work.

Sports at LAA...
The School Board and Staff at LAA believe that students should be given opportunities to participate in a variety of activities and sports.  Such activities have included golfing, skiing, soccer and basketball.  We also believe that a sports program should contribute to the Christian philosophy of the school, a philosophy which values our friendships with others, including students from other schools.  Rather than playing against other schools, it is our desire to play with them.  Our basketball and soccer programs reflect this by "mixing" the teams whenever we play other schools.  We have used this approach since the 1995/96 school year and found overall attitudes improved.  In this format players also got more playing time.

Our goal is to encourage participation while minimizing competition.  We do not believe that teaching students to compete prepares them for life.  We believe it prepares them to compete, which is the opposite of the compassionate example Jesus lived for us.

Participation in the Sports Program (including skiing) is dependent on each student maintaining at least a "C" in citizenship grade and in all classes.
